Great Vacation Spot for the Rugged

I initially began this Blog as a one stop shop for all my friends and family who asked me for information on Santa Barbara. Rather than extol all my knowledge onto post it notes, I figured why not just write it all out in one place for all to read, if and when they wanted. Immediately my friend Chris who read it, commented: "You haven't added anything in quite a while, not much of a blog."

I must admit that he is correct. Again that was not my initial intent. Ideally I would keep my reading public up to speed on the best restaurants, coolest bars, sexiest bartenders, as I saw fit. But, in reality I was not going to be updating weekly. I had to come across something pretty good to feel worthy of passing along.

So after many months of quiet, I recently read in this month's "Sunset" magazine an article about "Safari Tents". This trend is to give you a camping experience, yet allow you to sleep in a bed. Quite a novel idea, that evidently has been going on for some time in Africa for the upper class set who don't want to have a dirt floor when they camp. This idea while not necessarily novel, was novel to me to find out that it is available just 20 minutes north of Santa Barbara at El Capitan State Beach park.

Now you are probably saying to yourself that if it is written in this wonderful Blog that everyone now knows and it will be impossible to get a reservation. Well, fear not.

This link will take you to the site where there are 26 safari tents available. If you go on a weekend be sure to take in the Jazz/ Blues every Saturday night between May and October. There are a slew of activities, too many to mention so check out this link that describes them all.
