Seafood Extravaganza

Ever since one of my favorite restaurants: Sage and Onion left its corner at 30 East Ortega, I have considered it sacrosanct to consider the restaurant that has replaced it. But after much raving from friends and knowing that the wonderful Gaucho: Mitchell Sjerven of Bouchon fame took on the task of opening Seagrass Restaurant, I couldn't help but find myself at a table.

With the goal of providing the best Santa Barbara coastal cuisine, I would say they deliver. The menu is constantly changing with the seasons so please check their website for current must have's: http://www.seagrassrestaurant.com/dinner.htm
I was lucky enough to try the Pacific Oysters which were some of the freshest I have ever eaten. The Lobster and Pumpkin Bisque was divine, this coming from someone who doesn't like soup. For my main course I delved into Spiny Lobster that was almost as good as the one I caught off the coast of Laguna, as well as the oven roasted Calamari. This dish was so amazing it is worth the trip in and of itself.

The folks from Bouchon have done themselves proud with this Santa Barbara treat. Seagrass is a must visit restaurant. Tell them Senor Savvy sent you. "The most interesting man in Santa Barbara."
